The single most asked question in any first call: "so what does microcement actually cost?"

The honest answer is that microcement is a bespoke, hand‑applied finish priced per project — not by day rate, not off a fixed price list. Cost reflects the substrate, the scope, the colour system and the level of detail, and the only way to put a real number on a real project is a site visit and a written quotation.

What shapes the figure

  • Substrate condition — sound, level existing substrates need less making‑good; rough or wet substrates need more.
  • Scope — a single feature wall, a full bathroom, a whole floor or a worktop are all very different jobs.
  • Geometry & detail — curves, niches, bullnose edges and multiple returns add hand time.
  • Wet rooms & bathrooms — tanking and the Aqua sealer system add specification.
  • Colour — standard CimentArt tones are quicker than custom Pantone or RAL matches.
  • Sequencing — installing before joinery and brassware go in is almost always more efficient than working around fixed fittings.

What keeps it sensible

  • A sound, level existing substrate.
  • Simple rectangular floor plans.
  • Installing before joinery and brassware go in.
  • Choosing from the standard CimentArt palette.

The cost mistake that costs ten times more

Cheap microcement is, almost without exception, under‑specified microcement. Skipped mesh, fewer base coats, lower‑grade sealer, inexperienced applicator. A floor installed this way will hairline‑crack within a season, and the only fix is to re‑do it from the substrate up.

Microcement is a material where what you save at quote stage you pay back tenfold on the second installation.
