Service · Bathrooms & wet rooms
A bathroom with no joints to fail.
Microcement is one of the few surfaces that can take a wet room from floor to ceiling as a single, fully waterproof material. No grout, no silicone seams to discolour, no tile edges to chip. Just one continuous mineral skin.
A microcement bathroom is a fully waterproof, grout‑free wet room finish built up from the CimentArt Aqua system — a tanked substrate, mesh‑reinforced base coats and a polyurethane sealer rated for permanent wet environments. Installed across Cornwall by Jonathan Heywood.
More than any other room, the bathroom is where microcement reveals its full value. Tiles fail at the joints — grout discolours, silicone moulds, edges chip. Microcement, applied correctly with the right CimentArt Aqua products, removes the joints entirely.
What a microcement wet room actually involves
Substrate preparation, full tanking with a flexible waterproofing membrane, mesh‑reinforced base coats, two pigmented finish coats, and finally a two‑component polyurethane sealer specifically formulated for permanently wet environments. Done properly, the system is good for decades.
A bathroom that hides nothing
Because there is no grid of tiles for the eye to organise around, the room reads larger and quieter. Brassware, mirrors and joinery become the only points of contrast. It is the bathroom equivalent of removing visual noise — and once you have lived in one, ordinary tiled bathrooms can feel busy by comparison.
The first time a client walks into their finished microcement shower is, in twenty years of building, the closest I've seen to genuine speechlessness.

Questions
Frequently asked.
Is it really fully waterproof?+
Yes — the CimentArt Aqua system is rated for permanent wet environments including showers and wet rooms. The full tanking layer beneath gives an additional belt‑and‑braces guarantee.
Will the shower floor be slippery?+
No. We use an anti‑slip topcoat with a fine mineral additive in shower zones. It looks identical to the rest of the floor but offers grip equal to or better than a standard tile.
Can it go over my existing tiled bathroom?+
Often yes, which saves significant cost, dust and time. Tiles must be sound and well‑bonded. We assess on a site visit before quoting.
How long does the bathroom take?+
Typically 7‑10 working days from start to handover for a full bathroom or wet room, depending on size and complexity. The room is then left for a short cure period before first use.
