Terms & conditions.
These terms apply to consultations, quotes and installation work carried out by Cornwall Microcement. They sit alongside the project‑specific quote and method statement we issue for every job.

1. Who we are
"We", "us" and "Cornwall Microcement" mean Cornwall Microcement, a trading name of J2JPH Construction, sole‑trader business of Jonathan Heywood, based at 72 Egloshayle, Wadebridge, Cornwall, PL27 6AF. Contact: cornwallmicrocement.uk@gmail.com, 07803 534228.
"You" or "the client" means the person, partnership or company commissioning work from us.
2. Quotes and pricing
- Quotes are issued in writing following a site visit and are valid for 60 days unless otherwise stated.
- Quotes are fixed‑price for the scope described. Changes to scope, substrate condition discovered after work begins, or client‑requested variations will be priced separately and agreed in writing before being carried out.
- Prices include VAT only where stated. Cornwall Microcement is not VAT‑registered at the time of writing; if our VAT status changes, future quotes will reflect that.
- Travel within Cornwall is included. Travel beyond Cornwall is quoted separately.
3. Acceptance & deposit
- A quote is accepted by you confirming in writing (email is fine) and paying the agreed deposit.
- Standard deposit is 30% on acceptance to secure the date and order materials. Larger projects may be staged.
- Deposits are non‑refundable once materials have been ordered for your specific colour and system.
4. Materials & substrate
- We use the CimentArt microcement system exclusively, hand‑applied to manufacturer specification.
- It is the client's responsibility to ensure the substrate is structurally sound. We will report any concerns identified at the site visit and, where possible, include remedial preparation in our quote.
- We do not guarantee finishes applied over substrates which the client has instructed us to proceed with against our written advice.
5. Access, services & site conditions
- The client will provide reasonable working access to the property during agreed installation days, together with mains power, lighting and access to water and a toilet.
- Working areas will be left empty and clear of furnishings before our arrival unless otherwise agreed.
- Heating: for screeded floors, any underfloor heating must be commissioned per the screed manufacturer's protocol before microcement installation begins.
6. Programme & dates
Start dates are confirmed once the deposit is received. While we make every effort to meet agreed dates, programmes can be affected by substrate readiness, weather, illness or events outside our reasonable control. We will give as much notice as possible of any change.
7. Payment
- The balance is invoiced on practical completion of each phase and due within 7 days of invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Payment by bank transfer to the account shown on our invoice. We do not accept cash for sums over £1,000.
- Overdue invoices may attract interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where the client is a business.
8. Cure period & first use
Microcement reaches a usable condition after approximately 7 days and full chemical cure after 28 days. Light foot traffic is permitted from day 7; full water exposure (showers, wet rooms) from day 14; heavy furniture and rugs from day 28. We provide a written care guide on handover.
9. Guarantee
- Workmanship is guaranteed for two (2) years from practical completion. We will return and rectify, at our cost, any installation defect that arises in normal residential use during that period.
- The CimentArt material itself carries a manufacturer's guarantee in line with its published specification.
- The guarantee does not cover damage caused by impact, abuse, unsuitable cleaning chemicals (see care guide), substrate movement we identified and advised against, or works subsequently altered by third parties.
10. Aftercare
We offer optional aftercare visits and re‑sealing on a fixed‑cost basis. Re‑sealing every 3–5 years is recommended for high‑traffic floors and wet rooms.
11. Insurance
Cornwall Microcement holds public liability insurance. Certificate available on request. Insurance does not cover damage to pre‑existing defects or to items the client has chosen to leave on site against our advice.
12. Cancellation & consumer rights
Where you contract with us as a consumer following a site visit at your home, you have a statutory 14‑day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To use this right, tell us by email within 14 days of accepting the quote. If you've asked us to begin work or order materials within those 14 days, you remain liable for the value of work done and materials specifically ordered for your project up to that point.
13. Liability
Our total liability for any one project is limited to the contract value of that project, except where liability cannot lawfully be limited (death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or breach of statutory consumer rights).
14. Data
How we handle your personal data is set out in our privacy policy.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
16. Questions
Anything unclear or that you'd like discussed before commissioning a project, please email cornwallmicrocement.uk@gmail.com or call 07803 534228.
