Two guarantees sit behind every Cornwall Microcement installation — the manufacturer's product guarantee from CimentArt, and Jonathan's own written workmanship assurance. They cover different things. We set them out separately so you know exactly what's promised, by whom, and on what terms.
The CimentArt system
Manufacturer-backed product guarantee.
CimentArt provides a 1-year product guarantee under the relevant building regulations, applicable when the system is installed to specification by a trained applicator. The guarantee covers the material — not the building it is applied to.
No cracking
The microcement itself will not crack. Any crack derives from movement in the substrate beneath — not from the finish.
Adhesion
Will not peel or flake from a correctly prepared substrate. Preparation is part of the specification, not a step to be skipped.
Colour stability
No significant discolouration over time in interiors. Pale-tone ranges are recommended for exterior installations.
Waterproofing — AQUA range
Fully waterproof in wet areas — showers, wet rooms and worktops — when falls and detailing are correct.
Slip resistance
C3 certified — the highest slip-resistance classification — using CimentArt anti-slip microspheres where specified.
Quality & environment
Manufactured to ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental) standards. Low-VOC, within EU emission limits.
Jonathan's assurance
Installer workmanship — in writing.
The manufacturer guarantee covers the product. The workmanship guarantee covers the hands that apply it. Both matter, and they are deliberately kept distinct — Jonathan does not, and cannot, issue the CimentArt manufacturer warranty on CimentArt's behalf.

Correct substrate preparation, moisture testing (no application over substrates above 6% moisture or with capillary humidity present), and proper curing times observed at every stage.

A written workmanship guarantee provided with every completed project.
Guarantees apply when the system is applied to specification. They do not cover structural movement of the building, impact damage, or misuse. Specification, substrate condition and aftercare are discussed openly at survey and recorded in writing before work begins.

What's covered, what isn't.
Is the CimentArt microcement system guaranteed?
Yes. CimentArt provides a 1-year manufacturer product guarantee under the relevant building regulations when the system is applied to specification by a trained applicator. This covers the material itself — no cracking of the microcement, adhesion to a correctly prepared substrate, colour stability in interiors, and waterproofing for the AQUA range in wet areas.
Does Jonathan provide his own guarantee?
Yes. Jonathan Heywood provides a separate written workmanship guarantee with every completed project. This covers his preparation, application and finishing — the installer-side of the work. It is distinct from CimentArt's manufacturer product guarantee.
Will microcement crack?
The microcement itself will not crack. Any crack that appears derives from movement in the substrate beneath the finish — not from the microcement film. Correct substrate preparation, decoupling where required, and observed curing times are the reasons CimentArt can stand behind that claim.
Is CimentArt fully waterproof in showers and wet rooms?
The CimentArt AQUA range is fully waterproof in wet areas — showers, wet rooms and worktops — when falls, junctions and detailing are correct. Waterproofing is a system: substrate, primer, mesh, base coats, finish coats and sealer all have to be specified and applied correctly.
Is microcement slippery underfoot?
CimentArt floors are C3 certified — the highest slip-resistance classification — when specified with CimentArt's anti-slip microspheres. The level of finish is chosen at specification, before application begins.
What is not covered by the guarantee?
Guarantees apply when the system is applied to specification. They do not cover structural movement of the building, impact damage, abuse, or finishes that have been altered, sealed or cleaned with non-approved products after handover.
